Why TandemBaby

I started building this while Madara was pregnant with our first.

We wanted a baby tracker that wasn't ugly, that wasn't trying to upsell us at 3am, that wasn't going to sell our baby's data to a formula company. I'm a lawyer by day, and I looked at what was out there and thought: I can probably do better than this.

I couldn't, at first. The first six months were a lot of bad drafts. Tables of numbers. Charts that made you feel like you were failing. Notifications that shouted. I deleted most of it.

What's left is what we wished we'd had. The Orbit - one glance, your baby's whole day. Whisper Mode, because a bright screen at 3am is violence. Notifications that pick the right moment instead of the clock. Milestones with photos because the good stuff is worth remembering. And growth charts against WHO standards because every parent, at some point, wonders if everything is okay.

TandemBaby is built by two people in Riga. Me - Janis - and Madara, who's on the board, named the app, and has shaped it from day one. We built it together while we became parents together. That's the whole point.

Our son is due in a couple of weeks as I'm writing this. The app is in TestFlight now - Madara and I are the first users, and we'll be the first to test it on a real baby. I don't know anything yet. I don't know what his sleep will be like. I don't know if he'll feed well. I don't know what we'll get right and what we'll have to rebuild. I'm about to become a parent for the first time. But I know the app we built is the one we want in our hands at 3am.

If it helps you at 3am, that's the whole point.
